August 9, 2017 – The Open Skies relationship between the United States and two Middle Eastern countries – Qatar and the United Arab Emirates – is particularly contentious right now. This week, we have two unique perspectives on this highly-charged debate: from Eno Board of Directors chairman Jim Burnley and from Eno Policy Analyst Rui Neiva.
Open Skies agreements have been very beneficial to U.S. airlines and their passengers. But as long as the UAE and Qatar continue to flout them, U.S. airlines will not be able to compete fairly. Enforcing these agreements is critical to the continuing health of our airline industry.

August 4, 2017 – At an executive session on August 2, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee approved four of President Trump’s nominees to positions at USDOT. Two of those made it into the traditional pre-August-recess en bloc package of dozens of nominations approved by the Senate on August 3.
This table shows the Trump Administration’s pace of senior nominations for positions at the U.S. Department of Transportation (subject to Senate confirmation) and compares that pace with the first years of the terms of Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.
August 4, 2017 – A pair of recent court rulings in the last eight days have opened the way for numerous lawsuits against the California high-speed rail project under the auspices of the famously lawsuit-friendly California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

When Level 5 autonomous vehicles are introduced to society and deployed for use the winners will not be traditional car manufacturers, but entrepreneurs who believed in the American dream and the public. These entrepreneurs will go on to completely reimagine the future of transportation while giving mobility to those who are most in need of a reliable form of point to point, on demand transportation.

July 28, 2017 – On July 27, the House Energy & Commerce Committee (E&C) unanimously approved what may become the first federal law regulating self-driving vehicles. The final vote tally was 54-0 – a margin that would be impossible for practically anything else in Congress today.
