September 26, 2019 – The Federal Transit Administration signed a formal grant agreement this week with the Tempe, Arizona transit agency, promising $75 million in federal funding towards a new $192 million streetcar project.
The House of Representatives and Senate are scheduled to be in a two-week recess from September 30 – October 14, 2019 (the timing of the Jewish holidays, Columbus Day, and the end of the fiscal year all lined up to enable a two-weeker this year). No committee meetings are scheduled.

September 20, 2019 – Yesterday, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved a bill (H.R. 3632) sponsored by full committee chairman Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Aviation Subcommittee chairman Rick Larsen (D-WA) designed to prevent future admission of foreign airlines into U.S. service if they are “flag of convenience” carriers.

September 20, 2019 – A few more details about the revised financial plan for the new Hudson River Tunnel project have come to light since the August 23 announcement that the estimated total capital cost of the project had dropped by $1.58 billion, from $13.70 billion to $12.13 billion.
September 20, 2019 – The New York Metropolitan Transportation Agency this week released an outline of its proposed capital plan for fiscal years 2020-2024. The plan proposes a total of $54.5 billion in capital spending, which is $22.3 billion more than the $32.5 billion under the last iteration of its 2015-2019 capital plan.
