Sinema Leaves Democratic Party but May Retain Aviation Subcommittee Gavel

December 9, 2022 – Senator Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) changed her voting registration in Arizona today from “Democrat” to “Independent” and said she will no longer consider herself a member of the Democratic Party. However, she made clear that she will continue to affiliate with Senate Democrats.

December 8, 2022 – At its November 30 Board of Directors meeting, the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority gave a budget update and a new proposed financial plan for the upcoming year that gives us an update on the status of the “fiscal cliff” that the MTA and other major transit providers will be facing, to some extent, in the next few years.

President Signs Bill Averting Rail Strike

December 2, 2022 – President Biden has signed into law H. J. Res. 100, a resolution imposing a contract on the four railroad unions who had rejected the agreement reached in September 2022 between rail carriers and the rest of their unions. The law prevents a railroad strike/lockout that was otherwise on schedule to begin December 9.
