January 24, 2025 – The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office announced today that it will take another $150 billion in General Fund bailouts of the Highway Trust Fund to support a five-year reauthorization of IIJA spending at current-law-plus-inflation levels, and that the Trust Fund will be running $40 billion per year deficits at the end of that period.
