July 28, 2017 – On July 27, the House Energy & Commerce Committee (E&C) unanimously approved what may become the first federal law regulating self-driving vehicles. The final vote tally was 54-0 – a margin that would be impossible for practically anything else in Congress today.

July 27, 2017 – Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao on July 24 replaced the two federally-appointed principal members of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) board of directors.
July 17, 2017 – As noted in last week’s ETW, Amtrak has released its own five-year business plan and financial forecast. The original version of the plan (preserved here for posterity) had inaccurate tables in the back of the report relating to route-by-route ridership and financial forecasts. Amtrak has now released a corrected version of the document.
