June 6, 2025 – The U.S. Department of Transportation put the California High Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) on 30-day notice this week that USDOT will be canceling $4.0 billion in awarded and promised grants to CHSRA unless CHSRA can refute accusations of noncompliance with federal grant agreements within that time.

May 23, 2025 – Federal auditors said yesterday that the Trump Administration’s holdback of federal EV charging funds is an illegal impoundment – but that the way DOT runs most other formula grant programs is also illegal.
