July 7, 2022 – I’ve had the privilege of beginning my transportation career at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ). During my time at PANYNJ, I have served on the board of the Young Professionals in Transportation (YPT), a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization dedicated to the career development of young professionals in the transportation industry.
July 7, 2022 – As an established leader in the industry, I find it extraordinarily important to support, nurture, guide and listen to the up-and-coming rising stars who will continue the mission of our industry’s transformation. To navigate what lies ahead, these bright stars may want to give a few areas their keen consideration.
July 7, 2022 – When I think of an ideal future for transit, I envision a system that can and will be universally utilized by most, if not everyone, in society. When I look at transit now, I see the building blocks for that future.
July 7, 2022 – It’s time for the public transport industry to begin to reflect on the tangible lessons that private sector operators can provide, such as empowering emerging leaders.
July 7, 2022 – The COVID-19 pandemic elevated our collective awareness of transportation disparities. Frontline workers have lower wages on average, are more likely to be from socio-economically disadvantaged groups than the overall workforce, and are more likely to face transportation barriers. Additionally, low-income and minority population groups have poorer access to jobs, education, and health care, including COVID-19 vaccinations and treatment, due in part to transportation challenges.
July 7, 2022 – Sometimes neighborhood plans sit on the shelf—but sometimes they contain the right ingredients, bring together the right partners, and show community support for funding and implementation of transportation projects.
July 7, 2022 – Monica and Veronica enthusiastically discussed their education, career experiences, federal policymaking, and the road ahead for women in transit and transportation.
July 7, 2022 – There is an adage that states, “the only time that you should ever look back, is to see how far you have come.” As I look back at my career and the course that I have taken, I think how about not only how far I have come but how I got to where I am today.
July 7, 2022 – Greater UAS integration will unlock benefits ranging from routine package delivery, critical infrastructure inspection, and faster emergency response, among many others. Similarly, the introduction of AAM creates a new mode of transportation for cargo and people that can help reduce traffic congestion, bolster supply chains, and increase accessibility for the traveling public.
July 7, 2022 – Despite acknowledgement by industry stakeholders that a diversity and inclusion problem persists, historically marginalized groups such as women and people of color continue to be significantly underrepresented in many transportation professions.
