February 3, 2023 – The Federal Highway Administration told Congress this week that $3.5 billion in federal-aid highway contract authority balances held by states may have to be written off because they could be the result of a pre-2005 accounting error. However, any such writedown will not affect the total amount of federal highway money that the state can actually obligate and spend.
February 3, 2023 – On February 1, the Biden Administration announced the distribution of $800 million in road safety grant funding amongst 510 different U.S communities under the first-of-its-kind, “Safe Streets and Roads for All” (SS4A) program established by the bipartisan infrastructure law.

February 1, 2023 – It is unusual for a politician to hold a large public event to celebrate a project when they aren’t yet able to deliver the money. And that is what President Biden did this week for major rail tunnel projects in Baltimore and in New York City.
