Ali Kothawala is a doctoral student in Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and a Graduate Archer Fellow in Washington, D.C., committed to advancing resilient and accurate transportation planning. As a Thomas J. O’Bryant Fellow at Eno this summer, he is contributing to research projects, Eno Transportation Weekly (ETW), and independently exploring ways to make transportation planning processes more robust by incorporating uncertainty.
Ali’s research centers on improving transportation demand forecasting by integrating insights into evolving transportation modes and fuels, with his work published in Transportation Research Record and Travel Behaviour and Society. His professional experience spans consulting for transportation agencies at the local, county, regional, and state levels, addressing projects of all sizes—from micro-mobility initiatives and aerial gondolas to significant undertakings like commuter rail planning and the 2028 LA Olympics.
Ali holds degrees in transportation and civil engineering from the University of California at Davis and the College of Engineering Pune (India).
