On November 9, the Eno Center for Transportation and the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute at Hunter College are co-hosting a panel discussion in New York City to discuss the status of the Second Avenue Subway project.
The Second Avenue Subway is one of the most ambitious, expensive, and closely watched transportation project in the United States. More than a century in the making, it offers important lessons about controlling costs, managing complex construction projects, and maintaining public support. As New York moves forward with the next phase of construction, the project raises questions with national implications: How can major transit projects be delivered more efficiently, and what can other cities learn from New York’s successes and setbacks?
The event will feature MTA Construction & Development President Jamie Torres-Springer, former Program Executive Bill Goodrich, Community Board Chair Adem Brija, and former Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney. Eno’s principal researcher, Philip Plotch, will moderate.
