February 11, 2022 – Yesterday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Max Vekich to be a member of the Federal Maritime Commission from now until June 30, 2026. Once Vekich is sworn into office in a few days, he will bump a holdover Republican commissioner off the FMC and give Democrats a majority on the FMC.
February 10, 2022 – With high gas prices much on the mind of voters, a group of Democratic Senators led by Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) this week introduced a bill to suspend the current 18.4 cents-per-gallon federal excise tax on gasoline from the date of enactment of the bill through December 31, 2022.

February 3, 2022 – President Biden’s nominee to be his budget director declined to defend the Federal Highway Administration’s controversial new policy guidance document when asked about it on two occasions in her Senate confirmation hearing this week.
