October 6, 2017 – The ETW staff have completed a 22-page side-by-side analysis of our summary of the House autonomous vehicle regulation bill (H.R. 3388, the SELF DRIVE Act) as passed by the House last month and the Senate bill (S. 1885, the AV START Act) as amended and then approved in the Senate Commerce Committee earlier this week.

October 6, 2017 – The Senate yesterday evening confirmed Howard Elliott to be Administrator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration by unanimous consent. However, the backlog of transportation-related nominations still got bigger this week as the White House sent three new nominees to the Hill.

October 4, 2017- Earlier today, the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee voted to advance S. 1885, the AV START Act. The bill was drafted in a bipartisan process led by John Thune (R-SD) and Senator Gary Peters (D-MI), who have been working in earnest with committee members and stakeholders throughout this year.
