Join us March 22 to learn more about how some global cities are testing and deploying “Mobility-as-a-Service” as a means to facilitate customer information, schedules, and payment. This webinar will detail MaaS pilot programs, their lessons learned, and provide insights for US transit agencies, including its effect on ridership, data security, and equity in the broader transportation network.

March 16, 2018 – Hopes that the House could pass a final $1.3 trillion omnibus appropriations package for fiscal year 2018 this week were dashed by a small number of unresolved issues, foremost among them whether or not to give an initial tranche of money towards the $30 billion Gateway program of rail projects in New York and New Jersey, the centerpiece of which is a new $13 billion tunnel project beneath the Hudson River.

March 15, 2018 – The Shared Use Mobility Summit kicked off on March 12 with day-and-a-half workshops on shared autonomous vehicles (AVs) and on the FTA-funded Mobility on Demand (MOD) Sandbox project. The topics of AVs and MOD dominated over the next two days, with additional reoccurring themes of mobility hubs and bike sharing, among others.
March 15, 2018 – New York Governor Chris Cuomo has revived an old idea and is proposing to charge all vehicles entering southern Manhattan and use that money to restore mass transit service.

March 14, 2018 – Last Friday, the California High Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) released a draft 2018 business plan stating that costs for completing Phase 1 of the system (San Francisco to Anaheim) could rise as high as $98 billion, that completion will take four more years to complete than was estimated two years ago, and that the authority will probably need additional funding from somewhere in order to complete the initial operating segment of the system. The authority even raises the possibility of operating two non-connected segments – one from San Fransisco to Gilroy, and the other from Madera to Bakersfield – while waiting for more money from somewhere so they can finish digging tunnels to connect the two segments.
