August 7, 2020 – This morning, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the monthly jobs report for July 2020. The report shows a modest uptick in transportation construction and manufacturing jobs, along with significant gains in air and ground passenger transportation jobs (all versus June 2020).
August 7, 2020 – Last night, the U.S. Senate quietly passed a three-year pipeline safety reauthorization bill (S. 2299) by unanimous consent, without debate.
August 6, 2020 – New data from the federal government shows that not all airports and transit agencies needed the federal coronavirus aid provided by the CARES Act in March 2020 as urgently as others.
August 6, 2020 – This morning, the Treasury Department published the monthly report of Highway Trust Fund tax receipts for July 2020, and those numbers show the intake from the federal excise taxes on motor fuels and trucking rebounding to slightly above normal (July 2019) levels.
