July 31, 2020 – Larry Willis, the President of the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), sent a letter on behalf of TTD’s 33 affiliated unions petitioning USDOT for rulemaking requiring passenger face masks or coverings on DOT-regulated commercial transportation providers. Specifically, the letter highlights dangerous conditions for those who work in the passenger transportation industry on planes, buses, ferries, and trains.

July 31, 2020 – On July 29, the House of Representatives passed a bill (H.R. 4686) requiring ride-hail and ride-share companies like Uber and Lyft to develop digital methods of verifying that the person picking up a passenger is the actual driver the company who is supposed to be picking them up.
