April 2, 2021 – On Wednesday, March 31st, President Joe Biden unveiled the American Jobs Plan. President Biden’s latest infrastructure proposal stands at $2.3 trillion and includes $571 billion in additional spending for transportation systems nationwide. Such massive investment resulted in quite a few reactions from politicians and industry stakeholders alike.
April 1, 2021 – This week, the U.S. Government Accountability Office issued a new report entitled Commuter Rail: Information on Benefits and Funding Challenges for Service in Less Urbanized Communities.

March 25, 2021 – In what seems like the last, unfinished piece of 1990s railroad merger mania, Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern announced on March 21 that the two railroads had agreed to combine.
March 19, 2021 – This week, House Republicans voted to reverse their decade-old ban on requesting earmarked projects for their districts. The action was taken in light of the House Democratic majority announcing late last month that they were bringing back earmarks.
March 19, 2021 – On March 17, the full House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee held a hearing titled “The Business Case for Climate Solutions.” Addressing climate change was a key priority in last year’s House Democratic infrastructure bill, the Moving Forward Act (H.R. 2), which may be used as a starting point for this year’s infrastructure bill.
