February 11, 2022 – Yesterday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Max Vekich to be a member of the Federal Maritime Commission from now until June 30, 2026. Once Vekich is sworn into office in a few days, he will bump a holdover Republican commissioner off the FMC and give Democrats a majority on the FMC.
February 10, 2022 – With high gas prices much on the mind of voters, a group of Democratic Senators led by Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) this week introduced a bill to suspend the current 18.4 cents-per-gallon federal excise tax on gasoline from the date of enactment of the bill through December 31, 2022.
