Senate Passes Ocean Shipping Bill; Path to Reconciling With House Bill Unclear

April 1, 2022 – Yesterday, the Senate passed legislation (S. 3580) reauthorizing the Federal Maritime Commission and making changes in ocean shipping law designed to make force ocean carriers to move goods in and out of U.S. ports more quickly and efficiently.  The legislation, which was assembled by Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and John Thune (R-SD), passed the Senate by unanimous consent.

Biden Names Safety Chief Nolen Acting FAA Administrator

March 29, 2022 – On Saturday, March 26, the Biden Administration announced that Billy Nolen has been named Acting Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, now that the resignation of Steve Dickson from the post has become effective. Nolen is the Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety.
