July 14, 2022 – On July 7, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced 91 airport terminal development grants totaling $969 million, from funding provided for this new program by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA).

Frontline workers have lower wages on average, are more likely to be from socio-economically disadvantaged groups than the overall workforce, and are more likely to face transportation barriers. Additionally, low-income and minority population groups have poorer access to jobs, education, and health care, including COVID-19 vaccinations and treatment, due in part to transportation challenges.
