January 4, 2023 – Last week, the U.S. Department of Transportation notified Congress that they have selected nine projects to share almost $1.2 billion in “megaproject” funding through the first year’s awards of grants from the new megaprojects program established by the bipartisan infrastructure law (at 49 U.S.C. §6701).
January 3, 2023 – President Biden will visit Kentucky today to announce $1.6 billion in federal grants to a new Interstate highway bridge across the Ohio River, the top infrastructure priority of Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Rob Portman (R-OH).
January 2, 2023 – As part of their takeover of the House of Representatives tomorrow, House Republicans are scheduled to adopt a new package of rules for their chamber (H. Res. 5) that will have the effect of freezing most federal funding for the Department of Transportation at least for most of this year, if not for the next several years.
