August 18, 2023 – Road traffic fatalities in the United States increased at the rate of 3 percent annually between 2011 and 2021. The largest increases (nearly 20 percent) happened during the pandemic years, largely driven by traffic conditions that promoted high vehicle speeds with poor enforcement.
July 28, 2023 – The Senate Environmental and Public Works’ subcommittee on Clean Air, Climate, and Nuclear held a hearing on Wednesday, July 26, to discuss opportunities to reduce emissions from the rail network in the United States.
July 28, 2023 – The United States has a notoriously high traffic death rate per capita among the OECD countries. Fatalities have trended upward more recently between 2019 and 2021, likely due to the pandemic creating conditions for high traffic speeds and increased crash severity. The good news is that there is a slew of proven measures that can help reverse the trend.
July 12, 2023 – The House Subcommittee on Environment, Manufacturing, and Critical Materials held a markup on July 12 to discuss 3 bills that will have an impact on the electric vehicle transition in the United States.

June 9, 2023 – The House Railroad Subcommittee took a look at Amtrak’s performance at a hearing this week.
May 26, 2023 – The House Ways and Means’ Subcommittee on Trade held a hearing on May 25 to discuss modernization of customs policies for securing supply chains and protecting American workers.
May 12, 2023 – The House T&I Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials held a hearing on May 11 to discuss the rail supply chain resilience and associated challenges. Five witnesses testified for the hearing.
