Eno Center to Host Roundtable on Freight Transportation and Supply Chains

Congress is set to take up surface transportation reauthorization—including freight planning and funding—and simultaneously the Trump Administration is reviewing discretionary grant and loan strategies and the national freight plan. To support and advance these discussions, the Eno Center for Transportation will host a focused roundtable on the future reliability of the U.S. freight network.

The purpose of this roundtable will be to provide a space for stakeholders of different backgrounds to discuss the question: How do we evaluate and ensure the reliability of the freight transportation infrastructure network and the health of freight transportation providers? Roundtable participants will discuss several key questions including –

  • What are the roles of the federal, state, and local governments and the roles of private sector participants in planning and investing in an efficient and resilient national freight network?
  • How should agencies and businesses coordinate to ensure reliability, prioritize investments, and support workforce development needs?
  • What strategies were proven effective for addressing the pandemic-related supply chain crisis, and how should they be proactively modified, supported, or expanded in advance of a future disruption?
  • In balancing efficiency and resilience, is infrastructure redundancy required or are there non-infrastructure solutions?

Insights from this session will inform an Eno white paper to be published sometime after the roundtable.

When & Where: Wednesday, October 1, 1:00–3:00 p.m. EST ~ Eno Center, 1629 K St NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC. Want to attend? We are opening up the roundtable for organization members with relevant expertise in freight transportation and supply chains to attend. RSVP by Wednesday, September 24. This event will be open to a limited number of participants.
