Job Summary

The Eno Center for Transportation, a neutral non-profit think tank, is seeking an enthusiastic self-starter for the position of Director of Development. Eno boasts an energetic and growing workplace that is expanding its base of membership and fundraising. The position is a perfect fit for anyone looking to develop their career by taking over an established membership and fundraising program, expanding it and making it their own.

The Director of Development has the primary responsibility for taking the lead on all fundraising and membership efforts for Eno. Responsibilities include expanding membership, taking the lead on applying for grants, outreach to potential consulting clients, managing Eno’s giving program, acquiring sponsorships for events, and managing contributor relations. The Director of Development is also responsible for working with the communications department to promote Eno activities and outreach, including maintaining and expanding the database and alumni network.

Responsibilities

Management and Operations

  • Report to the President and CEO while maintaining a close relationship with the Board of Directors, especially the Chair and members of the Outreach/Development Committee
  • Implement strong operational system to ensure the timely cultivation, solicitation, and acknowledgement of funders
  • Work with the Director of Finance to maintain records of all fundraising activity
  • Work with and managing Eno’s fundraising consultants

Fundraising

  • Cultivate relationships with potential funders, and maintain relationships with existing funders including ensuring they receive membership benefits
  • Manage membership and giving programs
  • Serve as lead outreach for annual fundraising dinner and policy summit event sponsorships
  • Serve as lead outreach to foundations
  • Work with the policy team to develop scopes of work for project proposals
  • Oversee corporate fundraising consultants’ efforts
  • Serve as the primary staff contact for the Eno Board of Advisors
  • Work with Eno’s Center for Transportation Leadership to manage Eno’s alumni network and drive membership
  • Manage annual and major giving program, and plan and execute giving campaigns

Communications

  • Oversee the development of the annual progress report
  • Oversee all communications activity related to development and event promotion

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of three years of development/fundraising experience required
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising from individuals and organizations
  • Strategic and creative thinker; able to take initiative
  • Highly organized; able to prioritize tasks, work on several projects concurrently, and meet deadlines
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Knowledge of standard fundraising research tools and databases

Desired Skills

  • Foundation fundraising/grant writing experience
  • Alumni and/or donor relations experience
  • Background in customer service
  • Familiarity with basic website management
  • Familiarity with MemberPress plugin
  • Experience working in transportation industry and/or federal policy

Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience. Full-time employee benefits include health, dental and life insurance, participation in annual employee bonus program, 401(k) retirement contribution beginning after one year of full-time employment, transit benefits, cellphone benefits, education and professional development opportunities, and paid vacation and sick leave.
