Mobility as a Service (MaaS) has been a buzzing topic over the past few years. Interest in this movement has grown out of consumers and transportation providers recognizing that travel needs may not be met optimally by a single mode or service. The emerging set of private and public entities offering MaaS platforms show early signs of two very different approaches: walled gardens vs. open ecosystems. Landon Reed will introduce some of the competing interests driving these approaches, how some agencies have responded to proliferating mobility services, and share some of the work IBI Group has done in the space.
