May 16, 1952 report of President Truman’s temporary President’s Airport Commission, chaired by Gen. James H. Doolittle (yes, that Doolittle). Entitled The Airport and Its Neighbors, the report made a variety of recommendations, including expanded federal matching funds for airport development, the integration of airports into local municipal and transportation planning, better zoning laws, and the maintenance of positive air traffic control in areas of high air traffic density.
