SUMMARY:Transportation Affordability Webinar Series - Part 1: Transit
DESCRIPTION:In the 2025 and 2026 election cycle\, affordability has emerged as a major theme for candidates and a concern amongst the U.S. electorate. Transportation is the second highest average household expense\, second only to housing. Where affordable transportation choices exist\, they not only save household money but also create connections to economic opportunities. \nThis October 20th webinar is the first in a series on transportation affordability hosted by the Eno Center for Transportation and will explore recent trends in transit affordability. The second in the series will be on October 29th and will address automotive affordability. \nTransit options can provide riders with more affordable movement options. In recent years\, many transit agencies have explored programs to enhance ridership access\, especially as ridership patterns have shifted following the pandemic. At the same time\, many transit agencies confront fiscal cliffs\, and they must consider the balance of service improvements for riders\, affordability for users\, and fiscal resilience.  \nPanelists: \n\nArt Guzzetti\, Vice President (Policy\, Mobility\, Technical Services\, and Innovation) – American Public Transportation Association  \nDanny Pearlstein\, Policy and Communications Director – Riders Alliance  \nLiya Rechtman\, Policy Director for Transportation & Infrastructure – Office of the New York City Comptroller  \n\nModerator: \n\nGrace Truslow – Policy Analyst\, Eno Center for Transportation\n\n\n \n

SUMMARY:Transportation Affordability Webinar Series - Part 2: Automotive
DESCRIPTION:In the 2025 and 2026 election cycle\, affordability has emerged as a major theme for candidates and a concern amongst the U.S. electorate. Transportation is the second highest average household expense\, second only to housing. Where affordable transportation choices exist\, they not only save household money but also create connections to economic opportunities. \nThis October 29th webinar is the second in a series on transportation affordability hosted by the Eno Center for Transportation and will explore personal vehicle affordability. The first in the series will be on October 20th and will address transit affordability. \nThe panelists will discuss recent trends in vehicle and fueling affordability for both electric and gasoline powered vehicles and how these are impacting transportation access. Increases to the price of gas following the War with Iran has increased the cost of transportation for non-electric vehicle owners. Additionally\, the cost to purchase new vehicles has increased\, incentivizing consumers to maintain their vehicles for longer lifecycles. Automotive vehicle affordability is important both for domestic drivers and for the competitiveness of US automotive companies in international markets. \nPanelists: \n\nCorey Cantor – Research Director\, Zero Emission Transportation Association\nAbbie Olson – Policy Analyst\, Atlas Public Policy\nZohaib Rahim – Senior Manager (Economic & Industry Insights)\, Cox Automotive\nMatthew Vining – Policy Analyst\, Atlas Public Policy\n\nModerator: \n\nGrace Truslow – Policy Analyst\, Eno Center for Transportation\n\n\n \n
