SUMMARY:Webinar: The New Mobilities: Smart Planning for Emerging Transportation Technologies
DESCRIPTION:New transportation technologies are coming online faster than ever. While many of these emerging technologies are helping to expand our world\, they need to be evaluated critically. Todd Litman\, author of the new book New Mobilities: Smart Planning for Emerging Transportation Technologies will discuss 12 emerging transportation modes and services that will likely significantly affect our lives as they become more commonplace. Litman will explain how these modes and services\, including bike and car sharing\, micro-transit and electric vehicles\, may affect travel activity\, costs and affordability\, infrastructure design and cost\, and other elements. \nSpeakers:\nTodd Litman\, Executive Director\, Victoria Transport Policy Institute\nRobert Puentes\, President and CEO\, Eno Center for Transportation  \nDownload The Slides\nWatch The Recording:\n\n\nTodd Litman is founder and executive director of the Victoria Transport Policy Institute\, an independent research organization dedicated to developing innovative solutions to transport problems. His work helps expand the range of impacts and options considered in transportation decision-making\, improve evaluation methods\, and make specialized technical concepts accessible to a larger audience. SUMMARY:Webinar: Saving Time and Making Cents: A Blueprint for Building Better Transit
DESCRIPTION:This webinar offers one AICP Certification Maintenance credit. Click here for instructions on how to submit this event for credits.\n  \n  \nTo read the report and access the database\, visit projectdelivery.enotrans.org. \nCities\, states\, and metropolitan areas across the United States are looking to invest in a range of public transit projects in order to connect people to jobs and economic opportunity\, reduce greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles\, and shape development patterns. While these projects are as diverse as the country itself\, they all have one thing in common: increased scrutiny over their costs and timelines to build. According to Eno’s Transit Construction Cost Database\, the United States pays nearly 50% more on a per-mile basis to build both primarily at-grade and primarily tunneled projects than peer countries. \nAs part of an 18-month research\, policy\, and communications project\, Eno set out to analyze current and historical trends in public transit project delivery. We convened a set of advisors and conducted in-depth interviews with key stakeholders to understand the drivers behind mass transit construction\, cost\, and delivery in the United States. A comprehensive database of rail transit projects was created and curated to compare costs and timelines among U.S. cities and peer metropolitan areas in Western Europe and Canada. \nIn this webinar\, the authors will present key findings and takeaways from the report’s data analysis and nine regional case studies. Additionally\, the authors will discuss Eno’s actionable recommendations for policy changes at all levels of government as well as best practices for the public and private sectors. \nSpeakers:\nRomic Aevaz\, Policy Analyst\, Eno Center for Transportation\nBrianne Eby\, Senior Policy Analyst\, Eno Center for Transportation\nPaul Lewis\, Vice President of Policy and Finance\, Eno Center for Transportation  \nDownload the Slides\nWatch the Recording:
