Only Chicago's airport rank higher than Denver International Airport in a new study of 47 major U.S. cities on the quality of airline service.
The Eno Center for Transportation, a transportation think tank, gave Chicago's airports — O'Hare International and Midway International — the highest ranking of 94, followed by Denver (79), Los Angeles (78) and a three-way tied of Dallas, New York City and Atlanta.
In all cities with two or more airports, the airports were ranked jointly.
The ranking — called the Eno FlyScore — is based on four factors:
- Number of domestic destinations at each metro area.
- Number of domestic flights operated out of each metro area.
- Competition among carriers at each metro area.
- Average one-way fare in and out of each metro area.
The study ranks Denver fourth highest for number of domestic destinations.
